Ethernet Splitter – What and How
During the fast growing of wireless LAN technology, there are numbers of user still using a wired LAN through Ethernet adapter to connects two or more computer in building LAN. But, there is a problem occurs when we need another connection but can’t easily install a second cable since it installed on the wall. To solve this problem we can use an Ethernet Splitter. Ethernet splitter is a device which enables two computers or 2 network devices connected to the router only using a single Ethernet cable. They think the function of this device is to splitting the network connection directly from a single Ethernet cable. So they are only using only one splitter in the end of wiring cable then divide it into 2 network devices or 2 computers.
That was a misunderstanding concept. The Ethernet splitter works properly if it used in pairs. One splitter used in the base terminal, such as on hub, switch or router. From the picture and paragraph that mentioned above, the function of Ethernet splitter is to decrease the amount of cable required in a wired network (LAN). If we are using Ethernet splitter when installing a network, we can decrease the number of cable required to half number of network devices or computers used. For example, we are using 4 computers in the network; we only need 2 cables to connect those computers to the hub, switch or router. By decreasing the number of cables that are used in the network, we can reduce the cost when building wired network.
This Ethernet splitter will also help people whenever need another Ethernet connection but they can’t easily install a second cable for some reason, for example the wiring system is installed behind a wall.
